The ripe Mulberry fruit is edible and is widely used in pies, tarts, wines and cordials. The fruit of the Black Mulberry and the Red Mulberry have the strongest flavor. The fruit of the White Mulberry has a different flavor, sometimes characterized as insipid. The mature fruit contains significant amounts of resveratrol.
